Idea was developed for the reassignment of the premises currently owned by National newspapers “Narodne novine”. The primary function of the object is of public character, since the object will be used for educational purposes. The object must accommodate 70% classrooms and training rooms and 30% of office space.
The conceptual solution was made for the floors of the basement, ground floor and first floor of the building. These floors are currently owned by Narodne novine. The rest of the object that has a separate entrance has a residential character. In the premises of the Narodne novine enterace can be made from the common entrance, and from the courtyard accessible through the common passage, on the north side of the building. The building is formed according to existing dimensions, planar rectangular shape. The layout solution proposes an upgrading of two floors on the part of the building on the west side of the site which currently has basement and ground floor.
In the design of cubic, open forms, we have applied the skeletal constructive system. With its simplicity, it allows for a play of space, well-balanced and brightly lit as well as the object’s vision. The raster is uniform, and is mounted on a retractable load-bearing structure.
In the last floor, a green terrace is designed. The ceiling, as well as the roof over the hall, is broken in shape to refuse the sound inside the hall, and a better acoustics of space. On the fractures of the roof slope, the glass surface and the penetration of the sun’s air, the ventilation, and the better lighting of the space are left. On the side, glass walls of irregular frames have been designed, with the possibility of a complete closure with horizontal grooves.
